The fashion world has had a huge shake up in the past few weeks. Burberry, Dior Homme and Louis Vuitton have all appointed new and somewhat unexpected Creative Directors.
After his memorable departure from Louis Vuitton (who could forget the finale with Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell). Kim Jones will replace Kris Van Assche at Dior Homme. It seems Dior CEO, Pietro Beccari, is hoping that Jones can bring a contemporary edge to the Dior Homme brand. Arguably, his most notable collection at Louis Vuitton was his collaboration with Supreme which sent the streetwear world into a frenzy. The Louis Vuitton x Supreme collection resold for over double it original selling price.

Hailed as “one of the most talented designers of our time” by Marco Gobbeti, Riccardo Tisci is undoubtedly a powerhouse in the fashion world. Recently appointed as the new creative director for Burberry it is hoped that he will re-energise the once thriving brand that has slipped in the past few years. Although we think that Christopher Bailey did an amazing job at reviving Burberry, Tisci will bring an unrivaled relevance to the brand.

Perhaps the most exciting appointment of them all is Virgil Abloh being named as the new artistic director of menswear at Louis Vuitton. Founder of the renowned label Off- White that has been growing in popularity since the explosion of the streetwear movement. A celebrity favourite, Abloh has been tipped to make huge movements in his career and this is certainly one of them. We are eagerly awaiting the first show, expected to be in June during Paris Men’s Fashion Week. Abloh has noted that the “heritage and creative integrity” of the house will remain ingrained in his designs but of course, we will see his contemporary, creative genius shine through.
